Elton John in Malmö

The british superstar Elton John, the pianist, the song writer and the one of the best singers is coming to Malmö for just one performance in Sweden this year - in June.

He has released 44 albums and has given us many unforgettable songs like "Your song", "Rocket Man", "Candle In The Wind", "I'm Still Standing" and "Nikita"and many others. Elton John has won many music awards and he is known for his original clothes and glasses.

Malmö - the old town and Slottsparken

Malmö widziane z satelity a wlasciwie z samolotu (do konca nie wiem). Na zdjeciu widac tylko Stare Miasto, wyraznie otoczone fosa. Z lewej strony jest czesc parku (Slottsparken) a od gory centralna stacja kolejowa i port. To takie nawiazanie jeszcze do poprzedniego wpisu, gdzie zamiescilem pare zdjec ze Starego Miasta.

A to widok na biblioteke miejska, ktora lezy w parku po drugiej stronie fosy otaczajacej Stare Miasto. Nie bede sie tu bawil w jakiegos przewodnika turystycznego, bo bardziej lubie zwiedzac sam niz opowiadac. Ponizej zalaczam tylko link, pod ktorym obejrzec mozna pare fotek z tego wlasnie parku lezacego nieopodal Starego Miasta.

Kungsparken and Slottsparken (the King's Park) was the first large park to be established in Malmö, and was opened in 1872 by the Swedish King Oscar II. This park is filled with flowers, rare trees and shady avenues. You'll also find a restaurant dating back to 1912 in Kungsparken - today, this building houses Malmö's Casino.

Slottsparken (the Castle Park) was opened in 1900. This park features the large wooded areas with lawns and ponds so typical of 19th century landscape gardening. Slottsparken is also renowned for its many different sculptures, the most famous one being the "Man and Pegasus" by the famous Swedish sculptor Carl Milles. 1988 saw the construction of the small Japanese garden in the park.

You'll also find the City Library (the picture above) in Slottsparken. This consists of two parts, the old part designed by architect John Smedberg in 1900, and the new part, which opened in 1997, designed by famous Danish architect Henning Larsen. The new building is called the "Calendar of Light", and is an astonishing structure made of glass and sandstone.

To pierwszy i mam nadzieje, ze juz ostatni snieg w tym roku w Malmö (pomimo, ze to juz koniec lutego). Te pare zdjec zrobilem dzisiaj z rana a warunki do fotografowania byly naprawde kiepskie (mroz -2 st. i wiatr). Widac zreszta, ze ludzi na ulicach niewiele ale mimo wszystko chcialem uwiecznic ten osobliwy nastroj Starego Miasta w taki nieciekawy dzien. Gdy podobne zdjecia zrobie np. w lecie to bede przynajmniej widzial wyrazny kontrast a jak mawial moj profesor od prawa rodzinnego, na kontrastach przeciez polega zycie.

This is the first and I hope the last snow in this year in Malmö. Despite bad weather I decided to take some shots in the old town in Malmö to show that special atmosphere here in the late morning. It was freezing and blowing like hell but I didn't care and I'm going to take some more photos in the summer time to show the contrast of that nice part of Malmö.

Canon 400 D - my new friend

Today I bought a new digital camera - Canon 400D, since my previous camera -Sony collapsed totally (picture sensor fault) and I got my money back. I chose Canon 400D as I read a lot of good review on this camera. I already love it.

No i wreszcie zdecydowalem sie na kupno nowego aparatu cyfrowego, a wybor padl na...oczywiscie Canon 400D. Jak juz pisalem jakis czas temu, moj poprzedni aparat - Sony wyzional ducha (problem z sensorem obrazu) a naprawa widocznie nie oplacala sie bo dostalem pieniadze "back", wiec potraktowalem to jako swietna okazje aby w koncu miec to, o czym marzylem juz od dawna.
Canon 400D zdobyl pierwsze miejsce w roznych testach aparatow cyfrowych wiec mysle, ze bede zadowolony z jakosci robionych nim zdjec.

What can you use your cell-phone for.

A Swedish landscape of Scania.

The reason that I publish this photo is simple. I took it about 1.5 year ago while I was giving my daughter driving lessons and now she got her first own car delivered finally: Seat Ibiza Sport - just a couple of days ago. The interesting is that I took this shot at the speed of 110 km/h with my old cell-phone. Well, I think that its quality is not bad at all, considering the circumstances.
It presents a typical Swedish countryside of Scania (southern Sweden). I hope to publish even some photos of Joanna's car and herself in the one of the following posts.

The Rippingtons

In my previous post I presented one of the best jazz groups in the world - The Rippingtons. When I many years ago went to the music shop and heard their composition "North Star", I bought their latest CD (see previous post) straight away. To my satisfaction I found also many other great works on this CD. I simply like that kind of music and the musicians from this group are ones of the best - I guarantee.

The Rippingtons are a group that are often considered smooth jazz. Formed in 1986 by guitarist and band leader Russ Freeman. The band's recording career began in 1986 with the recording of Moonlighting. In January 1988 the Rippingtons released Kilimanjaro and next year Tourist In Paradise. In August 1990, the album Welcome to the St. James Club was released and became the band's first CD to debut at #1 in the Billboard Charts.
The album Curves Ahead, which I presented in my previuos post, featured songs based on the ski atmosphere in Colorado. In August 1992, the group released Weekend in Monaco, which has been one of their best selling albums. Since then they released more than 10 just as good albums.
In 1995, David Kochanski joined the group and the group made its presence known on the Internet. In 2006, the group celebrated their 20th anniversary by releasing "The Rippingtons: 20th Anniversary".

Pamietam, jak wiele lat temu po raz pierwszy uslyszalem The Rippingtons w ich swietnej kompozycji "North Star" w pewnym sklepie z plytami w Malmö i pomimo tego, ze szukalem wlasciwie cos innego, to bez namyslu kupilem ich aktualna wtedy plyte CD - Rippingtons Featuring Russ Freeman - Curves Ahead z tym wlasnie utworem i z doskonalym Russ Freeman'em. Prawie nie ma dnia, abym nie sluchal ich super muzyki. W paru moich filmach prezentowanych na tym blogu posluzylem sie wlasnie ich kompozycjami jako "soundtrack". Pewnie jeszcze nieraz pisac bede o tej grupie, bo jest ona naprawde warta tego.

Ich muzyka to jazz. Jest to jednak jazz jak ja to nazywam rytmiczny i z wyraznymi motywami melodycznymi. To wlasnie lubie. Marze o tym, aby znalezc sie kiedys "live" na ich koncercie. Jestem przekonany, ze byloby to cos szczegolnego i niezapomnianego. Mysle, ze gdy posluchacie "North Star"- jednej z najlepszych kompozycji tej grupy, to przyznacie mi racje. Zwracam uwage na cudowne solo na saksofonie tenorowym w wykonaniu Kirk'a Whalum oraz delikatny podklad na fortepianie w mistrzowskim wykonaniu ( jak zwykle zreszta) Dave Grusin'a. To po prostu jest bajka.

Happy New Year 2007

This happened last night in my neighbourhood. The fireworks because of the New Year 2007 was even more intensive in the central part of the city. But it was really nice.

Tak strzelano rakietami w noc sylwestrowa w naszym sasiedztwie a nie bylo to nawet epicentrum wybuchow. W centrum miasta bylo jeszcze "gorzej" a na drugi dzien krajobraz bedzie jak po bitwie.

So nice weather despite the winter time. It's almost "summer" today, well... not exactely but still, it's sunny, pretty warm and really good weather and this is December in Sweden. Wow !

Some changes

There has been some changes in my blog lately. I created namely two new sections, that is: Blogs and Gallery. The blogs section contains links to the blogs of people who I know and in the gallery section I'm going to present my own photos done on various occasions.
There will be certainly more changes in future as there are more and more information and things I would like to deal with on my blog.

Dzisiaj dokonalem pewnych zmian na moim blogu, aby troche lepiej zorganizowac linki do roznych stron na internecie i uczynic go bardziej przejrzystym. W tym celu utworzylem rubryke: Blogs i Gallery. W rubryce "Blogs" bede zamieszczal linki do blogow osob ktore znam a w przyszlosci pewnie i inne. Natomiast w rubryce "Gallery" bedzie mozna obejrzec moje wlasne zdjecia robione przy roznych okazjach ale zgrupowane w osobnych albumach fotograficznych albo na innych stronach poswieconych tylko wylacznie fotografi.
Pewnie nie bedzie to jedyna zmiana na moim blogu bo informacji i linkow przybywa stale i trzeba to wszystko jakos systematycznie pogrupowac.

Ibiza

Nie wiem czy to te hiszpanskie rytmy, ktore w ostatnim czasie mozna bylo slyszec na moim blogu, czy tez moze cos innego sprawilo, ze Asia zdecydowala sie wreszcie na kupno nowego samochodu i zgadnijcie jaki wybrala (?) No oczywiscie hiszpanski temperament i niemiecka jakosc (tak brzmi to w reklamie) czyli SEAT Ibiza. Taki dokladnie jak na zdjeciu (wersja sportowa, czarny kolor). Odbior auta za cztery tygodnie, bo sa one juz w Szwecji w porcie. No nareszcie bede mial swoje BMW tylko do wlasnej dyspozycji.

My daughter Asia has finally decided to buy a new car today and guess which brand ? Of course Seat Ibiza. I really like that car and its design. Delivery in 4 weeks time. Pretty fast, isn't it ? It looks exactly like the one on the picture above.
